The World Economic Forum is now |
The Financial Times has secured a six-figure sponsorship deal with wind power supplier Vestas for its cross media coverage of this year's event, and CNBC has signed commerical agreements with BT and Zurich Financial Services based around its own on and off-air coverage and activities.
Vestas is the sole sponsor of two, 16-page special reports on Davos in the FT, and will have major participation in its ‘The World in 2008' special report. Online, it is sponsoring video and audio coverage produced by senior FT journalists reporting from the event via a dedicated Davos channel, which includes live news feeds and analysis and audio roundtable debates on the big issues.
The wind power supplier is using its sponsorship deal to highlight issues facing the world's energy supply and to bring focus on the importance of modern energy sources.
"Future energy resources and the environment will once again be major issues at this year's Davos event," says Peter Kruse, senior vice president of Vestas. "Davos is an excellent opportunity for Vestas to raise the audience's awareness of wind power as modern energy. We've worked with the FT to design a package with the purpose of bringing the attention of global business and political decision makers to the advantages offered by wind power, a competitive, predictable, independent and clean energy source with a fast ramp-up."
BT Global Services and CNBC will co-host a breakfast debate to discuss how business leaders are responding to the changing world by harnessing renewable energy. CNBC has also signed a deal with Zurich Financial Services to allow it co-branded promotions and themed spots airing on CNBC's European and US channels, plus sponsored online promotions and vignettes of the week's key interviews from the event on CNBC.com. Zurich will also take all banner ad space and animated advertising slots on CNBC.com's World Economic Forum news page through to the end of February.
"Davos is the ultimate schmooze-fest for the people who make and influence decisions around the world," says Lionel Barber, editor of the FT.
